Transform your beliefs and reverse age yourself

When was the last time you felt an ache or pain, looked in the mirror and saw new wrinkles, or felt tired for no reason, thinking, “It’s because I’m getting old”? We often accept this as an unavoidable truth, but where did this mindset originate?

Society often portrays aging as something to be feared. It suggests that with age, we lose beauty and health, and many pains are simply due to getting older. I used to believe this, too. For years, I saw aging as a decline in vitality and beauty. But then, I had a profound realization that changed my perspective on aging, and it didn’t cost a penny.

It started with reflection. I questioned my beliefs about aging and whether they served me. Did I really want to fear the inevitable? The answer was a resounding No.

Challenging Your Beliefs About Aging

I decided to challenge my beliefs and embrace a positive outlook on aging. Rather than seeing it negatively, I started to view aging as a natural, beautiful part of life filled with wisdom and growth.

This mindset shift didn’t happen overnight. I noticed a pattern of “old person talk” in my thoughts and conversations. I committed to reframing my mindset. For example, instead of thinking, “It’s because I’m getting old,” I started to think, “What is my body telling me, and what can I do to address it?” This empowered me to believe I could remedy things at any age.

Embrace a Positive Outlook

I also noticed that people, especially those over 60, often talk about their age in ways that negate their body’s potential for healing. My late 30 and 40-something-year-old children say it’s ever-increasing in their age groups as well. As a manifestation teacher, I knew focusing on negative aging experiences would create more of them. So, I started catching and changing my ageism beliefs and stopped mentioning my age in conversations.

Changing my mindset about aging had tangible effects on my well-being. Studies show that a positive attitude towards aging leads to longer, healthier lives. By embracing aging, we can reduce stress, boost our immune systems, and slow down physical aging.

How can you shift your beliefs about aging? Start by noticing how often you think or say, “It’s because I’m getting old,” and replace it with a positive, proactive thought. Reflect on your attitudes and challenge any negative beliefs. Remember the joys and opportunities that come with aging.

My Journey of Transformation

This has been a transformative journey in my aging process. Upon reaching my 60s, I came to a profound realization. We are faced with a pivotal choice, whether consciously or subconsciously, about how we approach aging. One option is to passively accept aging as a path of decline, a defeat of sorts. The other is to embrace aging with optimism and determination, actively seeking strategies to age positively. I consciously opted for the latter, committing to ongoing learning, growth, and practicing.
