How do you feel when you start a new weight loss diet, sign up for the gym, or begin counting calories? You probably feel forced into doing something you don’t like, and there’s a real sense of being deprived of the food and comfort you enjoy. Luckily, our chakras can help us manage our weight while not depriving us of the food we love! I’ve done it, and I’ll show you how.
I spent my teens and twenties trying to be disciplined with the way I ate. Usually, I’d get halfway through the day then give up. I’d overeat until I felt comfortable again. As you can imagine, my weight went up and down, and it had a big impact on my overall self-esteem and well-being.
My journey towards a healthy weight hasn’t been an easy one, but now I have a positive relationship with food. I eat when I’m hungry, and my body craves the kind of food that nourishes it. You can get to this place too, and the good news is, there’s no dieting involved!
Internal Balance Creates External Results
Your weight is an expression of your body’s health. Sure, you might find you lose a few pounds if you cut the calories and jog on the treadmill, but most dieters find the weight goes back on as soon as this first burst of energy gives way.
If you want to know the secret behind losing weight and keeping that excess weight off, you need to dig a little bit deeper and take a look at emotional imbalances that could be holding you back.
The best place to start this journey is with your chakra system.
If chakras are new to you, I’d recommend reading the post what are chakras to better understand why they matter. In essence, your chakras are the energy centers that connect your inner and outer worlds, and they can help us balance the spiritual, mental, and physical aspects of our lives.
You probably already feel a connection between your mind and your body. When you’re down, you might feel like you lack energy – or perhaps you feel energized when you’re around the right people. The weight we carry is deeply connected to our mental well-being, after all, who hasn’t picked up chips, ice-cream, or cookies in an effort to feel better?
Balancing Your Chakras for Long-Term Results
If you want to change the way you look, you’ve got to start with the way you feel. Balancing your chakras is the key to feeling better and chasing away negative emotions. The great thing is, the healing steps you take now will have long-lasting results- far longer than any gym session or fad diet.
To get started, you need to understand one vitally important fact, and it’s something that so many people have mixed up:
Happiness doesn’t follow weight loss; weight loss follows happiness.
You don’t have to lose a few pounds to start feeling better about yourself. You can work with your chakras to begin feeling better NOW. When you do, weight loss becomes almost effortless, and I promise you won’t be counting calories!
Which Chakras Influence Our Weight?
The truth is, each of our chakras can have an impact on our weight loss efforts. Our life force energy flows around our chakras freely; there are no borders that solidly define their roles.
With this in mind, any kind of chakra healing stands a good chance of supporting healthy weight loss, but if you want to fast-track your efforts, focus on these three chakras initially:
-
The Throat chakra
-
The Sacral chakra
-
The Root chakra
Let’s take a look at each in a little more detail, and why imbalances can cause weight gain.
The Throat Chakra
The Throat chakra has a direct connection to the food we eat; after all, everything passes through the throat on its way to our stomach.
As well as the physical interaction with food, the throat is a place where many of our cravings begin. When you think about cravings, you might think about an urge to eat sweet, salty, or fatty food – but for many of us, cravings have a more emotional starting place.
Do you feel heard? Do you speak your absolute truth all of the time? Do you feel like you’ve got a voice in the world?
There are very few people who can honestly answer those questions with a resounding yes. The problem is, your true self wants to be heard and cared for, and if it isn’t, these cravings manifest themselves by seeking comfort of a different kind. For many of us, that comfort is food, especially the kind of food that gives us a quick feel-good fix.
The Sacral Chakra
Again, with the Sacral chakra’s location just beneath our stomach, it’s no surprise to find a connection with healthy eating.
That connection begins with biology. Eating the kind of food that nourishes us has a positive effect on our gut health and the way that makes us feel. If you feel bloated, constipated, or even anxious, a few slight diet changes can be a great first step towards a better relationship with your Sacral chakra.
Of course, the Sacral chakra isn’t just associated with your stomach; it’s also the source of our sexual energy and desire as a whole. For many of us, sexuality is an area of emotional unrest, either because you can’t express yourself honestly, or because it’s an area that carries shame or pain from our past.
Carrying some extra weight around our middle can feel like a layer of protection against the world, and for many of us, food is what we use to create that shield.
The Root Chakra
The Root chakra is most commonly associated with safety and our sense of security in the world, and it’s a feeling that many of us try to replicate with food.
Food is proven to create the same kind of feel-good hormones we get when we’re safe, loved, and happy. As such, it also provides a short-term substitute if we don’t feel those things.
When we work on feeling content with who we truly are, then feelings of comfort and certainty can follow. Without the sense that our body and true self are connected, our instinct is to try and fill that gap – and junk food is a sure-fire quick fix.
The First Step in Finding Balance
Understanding that there’s more to weight loss than fad diets and dangerous supplements is a crucial first step towards a healthier relationship with food. Each one of us is complex in our own way, and calorie counting isn’t going to address the emotional wounds and energy imbalances we carry.
If you’re ready for a different approach, my new book is the perfect way to begin healing your chakras and start making your energy work for you. Now’s the perfect time to give up on diets for good, practice affirmations and meditate with stones and make a lasting change to the way you look and feel.
